Museo Archeologico Nazionale e Zona Archeologica di Luni

The National Archaeological Museum and archaeological zone of Luni preserve the remains of a Roman colony founded in 177 BC at the mouth of the Magra River on the Liguria-Tuscany border [1] [2] [3]. Luni prospered through the export of high-quality marble from the Apuan Alps and served as a diocesan seat from the 5th century until its population declined due to malaria and raids [1] [3] [4]. The museum, inaugurated in 1964, houses mosaics, sculptures, and artifacts [1] [2].
