Liternum

Liternum was an ancient Roman colony in Campania, Italy, situated near Patria Lake on the low sandy coast between Cumae and the Volturnus River [1]. Originally probably dependent on Cumae, it was established as a Roman colony in 194 BC [1]. While Livy recorded the settlement as unsuccessful, archaeological excavations have revealed a Roman town that persisted until the 4th century AD [1].
