House of the Centenary, Pompeii

The House of the Centenary was a luxurious residence in Pompeii, built in the mid-2nd century BC and named for the 18th centenary of Vesuvius's 79 AD eruption [1]. Among the largest houses in the city, it featured private baths, a nymphaeum, a fish pond (piscina), and two atria [1]. Remodeled around 15 AD, the bath complex and swimming pool were added during this period [1]. Discovered in 1879, the house preserves extensive wall paintings from the final years before its destruction [1].
