Palaestra at Delphi

The Palaestra at Delphi, part of a gymnasium within the sanctuary, is the oldest existing gymnasium in the Greek world, dating to the second half of the fourth century BC [1]. Built on two terraces, the palaestra and baths occupied the lower terrace [1]. Frequent earthquakes and landslides at Delphi have caused severe damage to the palaestra, more than any other area of the gymnasium complex [1].
