Macedonian Tomb of Elafochori

The Macedonian Tomb of Elafochori is an underground burial monument near the village of Elafochori in the Evros prefecture of Thrace, Greece, dating to the late 4th or early 3rd century BC. Built of carved limestone ashlar blocks from the quarry at Metaxades, it features a dromos, an antechamber, and a main chamber with stone-slab floors, a built bed, and a floor grave. It is considered the oldest Thracian underground tomb of this type, combining Macedonian architectural style with distinctive local Thracian morphological features.
