Paradeisos Archaeological Site

Paradeisos is a Late Neolithic archaeological site in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Northern Greece, on a flat hilltop at the west bank of the Nestos River [1]. The site lies near the Rhodope Mountains to the north, while the Nestos River created a plain extending 30 km south to the Aegean Sea [1]. The settlement was likely closer to the ancient coastline, which has since expanded [1]. The Via Egnatia, the Roman road connecting Durrës and Constantinople, crossed the Nestos here since at least Hellenistic times [1].
