Graves of Sainte-Colombe-sur-Seine

Several Hallstatt-culture burial mounds from the 6th century BC near Sainte-Colombe-sur-Seine in the Cote-d'Or department of eastern France. Excavated in the 19th century at Napoleon III's request, the site at La Garenne yielded a magnificent bronze lebes of Etruscan origin in 1846. At La Butte, a woman was found interred on an iron-clad funerary wagon alongside gold bracelets and earrings, now held at the National Archaeological Museum in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Geomagnetic surveys in 2015 revealed large buildings nearby, suggesting elites may have also resided at the burial site rather than solely at Mont Lassois.
