Ceccia

Ceccia is a Bronze Age archaeological site in Porto-Vecchio, southern Corsica, dating to approximately 1350 BC. The Torrean casteddu stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking the plain south of Porto-Vecchio and consists of a circular monument about 12 m in diameter with an interior chamber of 2 m featuring a false corbelled vault. The structure was reused during the Middle Ages and significantly modified in the Genoese period. It represents the culture of Bronze and Iron Age peoples who introduced the first agro-pastoral techniques to Corsica. Excavated in 1961, the discoveries are displayed at the Museum of Corsican Prehistory in Sartene.
