Cardiccia

Cardiccia is a megalithic dolmen (locally called a stazzona) in the commune of Sartene, southern Corsica, dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 4000-2000 BC). At 5.6 metres long, it is probably the largest dolmen in Corsica. Excavations recovered numerous obsidian fragments inside the chamber, indicating prehistoric trade networks since obsidian is not native to the island. The site is part of the broader Cauria megalithic landscape near Sartene, a region containing over 900 menhirs and some of the densest concentrations of prehistoric monuments in the western Mediterranean.
