FranceA Roman amphitheatre in Frejus built in the late 1st century AD, measuring 113 m by 83 m externally with an arena of 69 m by 39 m. Originally seating 12,000 spectators, it hosted gladiatorial combats, animal hunts, and naumachiae depicting naval battles. Listed among France's first protected monuments in 1840 after Victor Hugo's 1839 visit, it was partly excavated in 1828 and fully cleared in 1960 following the Malpasset Dam disaster. Today it serves as a 5,000-seat concert venue.
