Pont Julien

The Pont Julien is a Roman stone arch bridge spanning the Calavon River in southeastern France [1]. Built in 3 BC on the Via Domitia, the major Roman road linking Italy to Gaul, it features flood-relief openings in its supporting columns [1]. Located near Bonnieux, 8 km west of Apt, the bridge carried vehicular traffic for over 2,000 years until a bypass was constructed in 2005 [1] [2]. It now serves as a pedestrian and cycling route [1].
