Worlebury Camp

Worlebury Camp is an Iron Age hillfort on Worlebury Hill, north of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England [1] [2]. The fort was heavily defended with multiple walls, embankments and ditches [1] [2]. Archaeological investigation revealed nearly one hundred storage pits cut into the bedrock, many containing human remains and artefacts [1] [2]. Several large triangular platforms have been identified on the lower slopes of the hill [1]. The site suffered damage during the 19th and 20th centuries and was at times threatened with complete destruction [1]. Today it is a designated Scheduled monument within the Weston Woods Local Nature Reserve [1] [2].
