Worlebury Camp

Worlebury Camp is an Iron Age hillfort on Worlebury Hill, north of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England[1]. The fort was heavily defended with multiple walls, embankments and ditches[1]. Archaeological investigation revealed nearly one hundred storage pits cut into the bedrock, many containing human remains, coins and artefacts[1]. Several large triangular platforms have been identified on the lower slopes of the hill[1]. The site suffered significant damage during the 19th and 20th centuries and was at times threatened with complete destruction[1]. Today it is a designated Scheduled monument within the Weston Woods Local Nature Reserve[1].
