Round Loaf

Round Loaf is a Late Neolithic or Bronze Age tumulus on Anglezarke Moor in the West Pennine Moors near Chorley, Lancashire, dating to approximately 2400-1500 BC. The bowl barrow measures roughly 50 metres in diameter and 5 metres in height, making it among the largest in northern Britain. It is a scheduled monument of national importance, first designated in March 1954. The site has never been formally excavated and therefore retains undisturbed archaeological deposits. Some researchers suggest it may be a glacial deposit rather than a constructed barrow.
