Knowle Hill Castle

Knowle Hill Castle is an Iron Age hillfort near Braunton in Devon, England, situated on a promontory approximately 90 metres above sea level overlooking the River Caen. The hillfort survives as an oval enclosure measuring up to 165m long by 120m wide, defined by a single rampart and buried outer ditch. While the site has ancient Iron Age origins, it was partly modified in the 19th century as a folly, with a terraced area constructed in 1850 to house two cannons from the wreck of HMS Weasel. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (No. 513).
