EnglandBrighstone is a village and civil parish on the Isle of Wight, 6 miles (9.6 km) southwest of Newport on the B3399 road[1]. Previously known as "Brixton," the name derives from Old English Beorhtwīg and tūn, meaning 'the farmstead or estate belonging to a man called Beorhtwīg'[1]. The parish had a population of 1,603 in 2011[1].
