Hengistbury Head

Hengistbury Head is a Bronze Age settlement site (c. 3000-1500 BC) on a headland jutting into the English Channel between Bournemouth and Mudeford in Dorset. It is a site of international archaeological importance and is scheduled as an Ancient Monument [1]. Declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1990, the headland and surrounding area form part of the Christchurch Harbour Site of Special Scientific Interest [1]. The site has also been designated a Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area [1]. Formerly called Christchurch Head, the elevated portion is known as Warren Hill.
