All Cannings Cross

All Cannings Cross is an archaeological site near Devizes in Wiltshire, England, and a scheduled ancient monument. It is notable as the first site where the emergence of Iron Age technology in Britain was identified by archaeologists [1]. In 1911, Ben and Maud Cunnington first investigated the site after being informed of finds of numerous hammerstones in a ploughed field in the Vale of Pewsey [1]. The site represents a key location for understanding the transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age in southern Britain.
