Storgosia

Storgosia was a Roman road station on the route connecting Ulpia Oescus on the Danube to Philippopolis (Plovdiv), located in modern Kaylaka Park in Pleven, Bulgaria. Garrisoned by detachments of Legio I Italica, it grew into a fortified settlement in the 4th century with walls enclosing 31,000 sq m, two gates, three towers, and an Early Christian basilica measuring 45.2 by 22.2 metres. The fortress was abandoned at the end of the 6th century during Slavic and Avar invasions.
