Jach'a Phasa

An archaeological site in the La Paz Department of Bolivia, situated at 4,126 m elevation atop a mountain in the Pacajes Province, Calacoto Municipality. The site features over 50 chullpa -- pre-Columbian Aymara funerary towers -- enclosed by a surrounding wall, constructed from volcanic stone with mortar of mud and straw. Nearby sites include Taypi Phasa and Ch'iyara Chullpa, which contains 78 additional chullpa, forming a significant funerary landscape reflecting Aymara ancestral mortuary practices in the altiplano.
