Garakopaktapa

Ancient multilayer settlement of the Middle Bronze Age epoch, located in the basin of the Guruchay and Kondalanchay rivers near Fuzuli Rayon, Azerbaijan. Discovered by archaeologist Gudrat Ismayilov during excavations conducted from 1961 to 1971, the site yielded material culture dating from the second half of the 3rd millennium BC. The finds characterize the culture of tribes living in the Mil-Karabakh steppe during this period. Ismayilov also linked the nearby Garabulag kurgan cemetery, first investigated by Alexei Ivanovski in 1898, to this settlement.
