Uzerliktapa

Uzerliktapa (Uzerliktepe) is one of the largest Middle Bronze Age settlements in the South Caucasus, located near Aghdam, Azerbaijan. Dating to the first half and middle of the 2nd millennium BC, its cultural layer reaches 3.5 meters in depth. Excavations in 2022-2023 covering 800 square meters uncovered 160 utility pits, 50 hearths, 3 pottery kiln remains, and a metal-smelting furnace. Residential houses were primarily built of bricks, with a large brick wall surrounding the upper hill. Grape seed remains found at the site provide evidence of ancient viticulture in the region.
