Zar Cave

Zar Cave is an Upper Paleolithic archaeological site in the southern part of Zar village, Kalbajar District, Azerbaijan. During excavations from 1981 to 1987, prehistoric cave paintings were discovered alongside flint knives, arrowheads, and bone combs. Dented boards found at the site indicate grain milling activity, and these artefacts closely resemble those from nearby Taghlar Cave, suggesting the two caves' inhabitants shared cultural practices. Tools were fashioned from pebble, flint, and obsidian, with lesser use of basalt and felsite.
