Ancient Cassope was a fortified Greek city founded in the mid-4th century BC on the slopes of Mount Zalongo near modern Kamarina, serving as the capital of the Kassassopaeans, a sub-tribe of the Thesprotians [1][2]. The site contains well-preserved Cyclopean walls, an agora, a theatre, and a prytaneion, representing a complete urban center from the Hellenistic period [1]. The theatre, carved into the hillside, remains one of the most impressive monuments at the site [3].
