El Zotz is a Maya archaeological site in Guatemala's Petén Basin, situated about 20 km west of Tikal and 26 km west of Uaxactun [1]. The site derives its name from the abundant bat colonies inhabiting caves in neighboring cliffs [1]. Located within San Miguel la Palotada National Park, which borders Tikal National Park, El Zotz flourished during the Classic Period [1]. The site features numerous unexcavated mounds and ruins [1].
