The Sanctuary of Artemis Orthia was one of the most important religious sites in Sparta, dedicated to the goddess Artemis [1]. Used from the Archaic period (c. 700 BC) through the 4th century CE, the sanctuary was destroyed and rebuilt several times over centuries before closing in the late Roman period [1].
