Turicum

Turicum was a Gallo-Roman settlement at the lower end of Lake Zurich, serving as the precursor to modern Zürich[1]. Located within the Roman province of Germania Superior near the Raetian border, it functioned as a key customs post (portus) regulating goods traffic along the vital waterway connecting the Walensee, Obersee, Zürichsee, Limmat, Aare, and Rhine rivers[1].
