Acinipo

Acinipo is an archaeological site in Spain's Málaga province, about 20 km from Ronda. Settlement dates to approximately 3000 BCE, with evidence of continuous occupation through the Bronze Age (1100-750 BC). The Romans arrived in 206 BCE, and some historians believe the city was founded for veterans of Caesar's legions after the Battle of Munda in 45 BCE [1][2][3][4]. It became a prosperous Roman municipium of the Turdetani people, minting its own coins with agricultural motifs. The 32-hectare city sat at 1,000m elevation and housed 5,000 residents in the first century AD before falling in 429 AD [5][6][7].
