Abrigo do Lagar Velho is a rock shelter located 13 km from Leiria's centre in central Portugal [1]. The site is known for the discovery of a 24,000-year-old Cro-Magnon child, the Lapedo child [2]. It is the only human grave from the Upper Palaeolithic found across the entire Iberian Peninsula, dating back 29,000 years [4]. Currently a National Monument, the archaeological findings have been classified as assets of national interest [6].
