The Sarcophagi of Carajía are pre-Inca Chachapoyas culture burial monuments located in the Utcubamba Valley 18 km northwest of Chachapoyas in Peru's Amazonas Region [1][2]. The site features eight massive anthropomorphic sarcophagi perched on a cliffside, containing mummified remains that locals call the "ancient wise men" [1][2].
