Laguna de las Momias

Laguna de las Momias (Lagoon of the Mummies), also called Laguna de los Cóndores, is a cave archaeological site in Leimebamba, Chachapoyas province, Amazonas Region of Peru, excavated by Federico Kauffmann Doig [1]. The site takes its name from the condors that soar above the lagoon and the numerous mummies discovered there [1]. It was created by the Chachapoyas civilization, an ancient culture of the northern Peruvian forest.
