Xcambo

Xcambó is a Maya archaeological site on the northeast coast of Yucatán, Mexico. During the Classic period (250–600 AD), it functioned as a major coastal city and salt production center, occupying a strategic position within a trade network dependent on the powerful center of Izamal [1]. The site controlled other salt-extraction centers along the coast, such as Xtampú, and served as an import-export port for maritime goods from distant Maya regions [1].
