Uxmal is an ancient Maya city in Yucatan, Mexico, and the foremost example of Puuc architectural style, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Flourishing during the Late Classic Period (600-900 CE) under the Tutul Xiu dynasty, its Pyramid of the Magician rises 90.5 feet in three concentric sections as the tallest structure on site. The Governor's Palace is considered one of the most admired pre-Columbian structures, while the Nunnery Quadrangle contains 74 rooms decorated with rain god Chac figures. The city was finally abandoned around 1450 CE.
