An exceptionally well-preserved 5th-century BC Doric temple in the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, Sicily, built around 440 BC during the Greek Classical period. The peripteral temple spans 39 metres in length and 16.9 metres in width, with 34 columns standing approximately 7 metres high in a 6-by-13 arrangement. Its remarkable preservation owes largely to its conversion into a Christian basilica dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul in the 6th century AD. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valle dei Templi since 1997, it is the largest and best-preserved Doric temple in Sicily.
