Temple E, Selinus

Temple E at Selinus is a Doric Greek temple in Sicily, one of the best-preserved structures at this Magna Graecia city. Located on the hill east of the acropolis, it was constructed towards the middle of the 5th century BC atop earlier foundations. An inscription on a votive stela indicates dedication to Hera, though some scholars propose Aphrodite based on structural parallels. Its current appearance results from controversial anastylosis in 1959 by Italian archaeologist Jole Bovio Marconi. [1]
