Temple F, Selinus

Temple F at Selinus (modern Selinunte) in Sicily is a Doric Greek temple on the East Hill, built between 550 and 540 BC and probably dedicated to Athena. It is the smallest of the three temples on the eastern hill. The temple features six columns at the front and fourteen on the flanks, showing a transition from elongated archaic proportions toward the more balanced classical form. A fragment of a metope depicting a dead giant was recovered and is now displayed in the Museo Archeologico di Palermo.
