Cave di Cusa

Cave di Cusa is an ancient stone quarry in Sicily, Italy, located 3 kilometers south of Campobello di Mazara in the province of Trapani [1]. The quarry extends 1.8 kilometers along an east-west ridge [1]. Extraction began in the first half of the 6th century BC, and its stone was transported to construct the temples of the ancient Greek city of Selinunte [1]. The quarry was abandoned in 409 BC when Carthaginian forces captured Selinunte [1]. Today, it functions as an official Sicilian Archaeological Zone and attracts tourists [1][2].
