ItalyRudiae was a Messapian settlement founded in the late 9th or early 8th centuries BCE [1]. The site, located southwest of Lecce near San Pietro in Lama, is now an archaeological park [1]. Renaissance Humanist Antonio de Ferraris identified Rudiae as the birthplace of the Roman poet Ennius [1].
