Thurii

Thurii was an ancient Greek colony of Magna Graecia founded in 443 BC by settlers from Athens and Sybaris, on the Gulf of Taranto near the site of the earlier city of Sybaris.[1] The ruins are located in the Sybaris archaeological park near modern Sibari in Calabria's Province of Cosenza.[2] In Roman times the city was renamed Copia.[3] According to Justin, the city was said to have been built by the Greek hero Philoctetes, whose monument was reportedly visible there.
