Monte Pruno

Monte Pruno is an archaeological site on a mountain (879 m) near Roscigno in the Cilento, Province of Salerno, southern Italy. Occupied from the 7th century BC by Oenotrian groups, the settlement was taken over by the Lucani in the mid-5th century BC. The famous 'Princely Tomb' (1938) contained a four-wheeled wagon, silver crown, and some fifty grave goods reflecting elite warrior status. A large 4th-century BC residential complex of 400-500 sq m with a central courtyard was also uncovered.
