Tel Hermal Fort

Tel Hermal (ancient Shaduppum) is an Old Babylonian site in present-day Baghdad, located 600 meters from Tell Muhammad [1]. It was part of the kingdom of Eshnunna, situated on the left bank of the Diyala River near other ancient cities including Eshnunna, Tell Ishchali, and Khafajah [1]. The site yielded important cuneiform archives documenting the kingdom's administration [1]. Its tutelary deity was Bēl-gašer, while the goddess Ninkarrak maintained a cult center at Shaduppum [1].
