IraqNimrud is an ancient Assyrian city in Upper Mesopotamia's Nineveh Plains, located 30 km south of modern Mosul and 5 km south of Selamiyah village [1]. The city occupied a strategic position 10 km north of where the Tigris River meets its tributary the Great Zab, covering approximately 360 hectares [1]. The city was a major Assyrian city from approximately 1350 BC to 610 BC [1].
