GuatemalaSan Bartolo is a small pre-Columbian Maya archaeological site in Guatemala's Petén Department, northeast of Tikal and roughly fifty miles from the nearest settlement[1]. The site dates to roughly 500 BC–250 AD and is renowned for its splendid Late-Preclassic mural paintings showing strong Olmec influence[1]. San Bartolo also contains some of the earliest examples of Maya script[1].
