Amphiaraeion of Oropos

The Amphiareion of Oropos was a sanctuary dedicated to the hero Amphiaraos, situated in the hills 6 km southeast of the fortified port of Oropos in the northernmost point of Attica, amidst a pine forest [1][2]. Founded in the late 5th century BCE, the sanctuary served as a major religious site in ancient Greece [1][3]. Pilgrims traveled there to seek oracular responses and healing from the chthonian hero Amphiaraos [1][3].
