Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis Museum is a 21,000 sq m archaeological museum at the foot of the Athens Acropolis, designed by Bernard Tschumi and opened on 20 June 2009. It houses over 4,000 artifacts from the Acropolis spanning the Bronze Age to Byzantine periods. The top-floor Parthenon Gallery recreates the dimensions of the temple's frieze, while five original Caryatids from the Erechtheion are displayed on the first floor, with an empty space left for the sixth held by the British Museum. The building rests on over 100 concrete pillars above excavated ancient Athenian ruins visible through glass floors.
