FranceA Roman bridge in Narbonne dating to the 1st century AD, originally featuring six arches over the Canal de la Robine. The Pont des Marchands is one of only a handful of bridges worldwide lined with shops and houses, making it one of the last two inhabited bridges in France alongside Landerneau. The structure was rebuilt in the Middle Ages to support commercial buildings that appeared from the 14th century onward. Listed as a historic monument, it was reinforced with 65 tonnes of metal beams and reopened in December 2023 after threatening to collapse.
