Henmore Brook

The Henmore Brook is a 20 km tributary of the River Dove in Derbyshire, England, whose valley preserves extensive evidence of prehistoric human settlement. Palaeolithic sites cluster near Carsington in the north, while round barrows, standing stones, and tumuli dot the sandstone hills south of Ashbourne. A rare Acheulean stone axe found at Hopton attests to very early human presence in the valley, placing activity here among the oldest known in the English Midlands.
