Strutt's Park Roman Fort

Strutt's Park Roman Fort was an early Roman military installation in Derby, Derbyshire, England, established around 50 AD following the defeat of Caratacus. Positioned on the elevated west bank of the River Derwent, it protected an important crossing where Ryknild Street met roads to Wroxeter, Chester, and Buxton. Coins from Claudius through Vespasian and military artifacts including brooches and horse harness pendants were recovered during excavations. The fort was abandoned around 75-80 AD when the garrison relocated to Little Chester across the river.
