A Roman road crossing the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk fens, linking Ermine Street near Peterborough in the west to Denver, Norfolk in the east, spanning 39 km. The road was raised above the marshy terrain on gravel and reached widths of up to 18 metres. In places it follows the crest of natural watercourse levees, creating a sinuous course rather than the typical Roman straight alignment. First recorded by Dugdale in 1772, a cross-section of the road can be viewed at the Flag Fen archaeological site near its western end.
