The Pipers

The Pipers are a pair of standing stones situated approximately 120 metres west-southwest of the central Hurlers stone circle on Bodmin Moor near Minions, Cornwall. Standing about 2 metres high, they may have served as boundary posts or a portal giving access to the Hurlers from the west, though some archaeologists suggest they provided astronomical alignments. According to legend, the stones are two men petrified for playing music on a Sunday, sharing the fate of the Hurlers. The site was scheduled as a monument in 1994 as part of the broader Hurlers ceremonial landscape.
