Sun Temple of Userkaf

The Sun Temple of Userkaf (Nekhen-Re) was an ancient Egyptian temple dedicated to the sun god Ra built by Pharaoh Userkaf, founder of the Fifth Dynasty, at the beginning of the 25th century BCE[1]. Located between the Abusir pyramid field to the south and Abu Gorab to the north, roughly 15 km south of modern Cairo, the temple's ancient name meant "Stronghold of Ra"[1]. The complex comprised a main temple on a low desert hill accessed via a causeway from a valley temple nearer to the Nile's cultivation area[1].
